Description

Scope

This specification covers Type THHN/THWN/THWN-2 building wire manufactured with soft annealed copper or AA-8000 series aluminum alloy conductors. The cable is insulated with flame-retardant PVC and finished with a nylon jacket, in full compliance with UL Standard 83.

The product meets VW-1 and CT flame test requirements and is gasoline-resistant, oil-resistant, and sunlight-resistant.

Application

THHN/THWN/THWN-2 cables are intended for use in conduit or cable tray systems for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial and industrial installations, as permitted by the National Electrical Code (NEC).

THHN: Rated 90°C in dry locations

THWN: Rated 75°C in dry or wet locations

THWN-2: Rated 90°C in dry or wet locations

All types are rated for 600V applications.

Construction

• Conductors: Soft annealed copper or AA 8000 series alloy.

Sizes 14AWG- 1000kcmil: Solid or stranded copper.

Sizes 12AWG- 1000kcmil: Solid or stranded AA 8000 series alloy.

• Insulation: Flame retardant PVC. Thickness:per UL83
• Jacket: Nylon. ( Clear or colored) Thickness:per UL83.
• Information on the cable: The cable shall be legibly marked with AWG or kcmil size, type letters, rated voltage, manufacturer’s name, UL file number, product features, date of manufacture, and sequential footage marking.
