Scope

This specification covers Type XHHW / XHHW-2 building wire constructed with soft annealed copper or AA-8000 series aluminum alloy conductors and insulated with heat- and moisture-resistant XLPE (cross-linked polyethylene). The cable complies with UL Standard 44.

Application

Type XHHW/XHHW-2 is suitable for various commercial and industrial applications. These cables may be installed in wet or dry locations, indoors or outdoors in raceways, underground ducts. XHHW is rated at a conductor temperature of 75℃ wet and 90℃dry, XHHW-2 is rated at a conductor temperature of 90℃wet or dry. They are permitted for 600V application.

Construction

• • Conductors: Soft annealed copper or AA 8000 series alloy.

  Sizes 14AWG-2000kcmil: Solid or stranded copper.

  Sizes 12AWG-2000kcmil: Solid or stranded AA 8000 series alloy.

  • Insulation: XLPE. Thickness: As per UL44.

  A Polyester film as a separater between the conductor and the insulation is optional.

  • Information on the cable: AWG or kcmil, size,type letters,rated voltage, the name of the manufacturer, UL file number, characteristic, manufacture date, FEET.
